Refresher lessons
Are you someone who passed their Test several years ago and has hardly driven since, if at all? Do you want to improve your driving skills or just need to be back on the road.
Some pupils pass their Test when they are just 17 or 18, have no opportunity to drive their parents' car, use a gap year to travel the world, head off to university, start a job where it is easier to use public transport and eventually might be able to buy a car, or find they need to drive for one of many other reasons.
Whatever your situation, and however long your full driving licence has been stuck in your pocket/wallet/purse/handbag/drawer/safe/attic.....you might find it surprisingly easy to get back on the road and regain confidence.
As one of the most experienced driving instructors in Kingston upon Thames (and the wider area) I have had numerous pupils take refresher lessons and you too can improve your driving skills.
So much has changed?
Even though the Driving Test has changed in recent years you won't need to worry too much about some of those changes. Quite simply you will decide exactly what you need to practice once you've had 1 or 2 hours initial guidance. If you cope well with the controls you will soon be tackling busier junctions, major roads, roundabouts and dual carriageways. You will very soon regain confidence and may wish to improve your driving skills even more.
You can practice whichever reversing manoeuvres as much as you need and, if you have your own car, all or some of your lessons can be taken in that car. If appropriate, you can choose to practice a particular route(s) that you expect to be using very frequently.
In between lessons it will be beneficial to practice in your own car if possible and, as soon as you feel you have managed to regain confidence, you can dispense with my services. Obviously if you need help a few weeks/months later i.e. with motorways you can call me again.
Other courses
As an AA Driving School instructor I can deliver the Drive Confident course, full details of which can be found on the AA website link.
Drive Confident is a basic 2 hour course (which can be taken as 2 separate hours) for qualified drivers who lack confidence in some areas of driving, or who might need some refresher training. The in-car sessions will include an initial assessment followed by guided practice and coaching. The course also comes with an accompanying workbook to support the in-car sessions and help you identify where you might need training. After those initial 2 hours you can continue to improve your driving skills with additional refresher lessons.
This course will have to be booked directly with the AA but ask for me to be your instructor if you wish.
