Chertsey is the Test centre I use most often after Tolworth and I have a thorough knowledge of the entire area, as on occasions I will also have pupils taking tests in Ashford or Guildford. Between April 2010 & December 2011 my pupils have taken a total of 156 Tests, over half (85) at Tolworth and almost half of the rest (31/71) being at Chertsey. Driving Lessons in Weybridge
I have conducted many driving lessons in Weybridge, but the Test centre there was closed in February 2008 - the last of my pupils to pass their driving test at Weybridge (on the final day that Weybridge Test centre was open) happens to be the elder brother of the most recent pupil to pass in Chertsey.
Even now some of my new pupils will start their driving lessons in Weybridge (if that is closer to home) instead of beginning to learn to drive in Chertsey. Once those first few driving lessons in Weybridge have established good control, and junctions are being handled with improving confidence, it is time to head off and learn to drive in Chertsey.

Chertsey itself is somewhat different to Weybridge and Tolworth routes and to pass your driving test in Chertsey may involve using a number of national speed limit single carriageways i.e. towards Virginia Water, Thorpe and Staines.
If you do choose to learn to drive in Chertsey the town centre requires you to understand and be confident with a number of crossroads and roundabouts. To pass your driving test in Chertsey you will have to negotiate a selection of other roundabouts and dual carriageways and a few trickier junctions, for instance an extremely sharp left turn between Ottershaw and Woking, having to slow down considerably on a 50mph speed limit road. Most pupils need a second attempt at this junction as they will inevitably not arrive slow enough or steer too wide! That's why dual controls are rather useful.
