Over the past few years I have had more pupils than previously learn to drive in Ashford, usually in preference to Isleworth (which has a much longer waiting list). Even if a pupil lives in Richmond or Twickenham, we may start with the first few driving lessons in Hampton or other local roads, before going that litttle bit further into Ashford territory.
Driving lessons in Hampton
I will quite often conduct driving lessons in Hampton, as it is not too much further to get into the Feltham & Sunbury Cross areas and then on further towards the main Ashford area. Instead of beginning to learn to drive in Ashford the initial driving lessons in Hampton can be used to establish good use of the controls and confidence with junctions, after which it is time to move on and learn to drive in Ashford and it's surrounding areas.

Ashford is used in preference to Isleworth for 2 main reasons. Firstly, the waiting list is generally much shorter (at Isleworth recently the published waiting list was 17 weeks!) and secondly the centre of Ashford is comparatively more peaceful than Hounslow, in particular there are far fewer buses in Ashford. That does not mean that it will be significantly easier to pass your driving test in Ashford, since every Test centre has awkward locations and if any pupil is not sufficiently prepared their weaknesses will be exposed.
If you do choose to learn to drive in Ashford you will have to be confident on the major dual carriageways (40, 50 & 60 mph sections).
To pass your driving Test in Ashford you must be certain of your lane positioning negotiating the larger roundabouts, be especially careful on the narrower roads and familiar with the likely routes that may be chosen for your section of Independent driving.
Intensive driving courses in Hampton
Obviously not just in Hampton but across the Ashford test area and in any of the other Test areas that I am familiar with (Chertsey, Isleworth & Tolworth being the closest). Intensive courses can be for as few or as many hours as required but if you want to pass your driving test in Ashford we will be heading into that area as early as is appropriate. If an intensive course is arranged with 4 or 5 hour lessons we will be in Ashford on the second lesson, if not the first.
Affordable driving lessons in Sunbury
If you want to learn to drive in Ashford or Sunbury or have driving lessons in Hampton or Hanworth I can keep prices lower if I continue to have a sufficient number of pupils in these areas, as I should be able to reduce the mileage between lessons.
