1) Drive iQ PRO (BTEC)
I have accreditation to deliver this course (originally titled BTEC in Driving Science). It is a COMPLETE learning to drive course leading to the usual Test and continuing beyond.
Part 1 - Drive iQ - is completely free and is a very comprehensive preparation for your Theory Test.
Part 2 - Drive iQ PRO - continues through the in car training and beyond the Driving Test.
Arguably the most significant benefit of enrolling on Drive iQ is the EXCLUSIVE insurance deal that has been negotiated, which includes fixed price provisional insurance in the pupil's own (or family) car. After passing the practical Test and completing the final post test module of Drive iQ PRO it is then possible to access preferential graduate insurance rates. For more details use the link to Drive iQ on the side panel.
2) Short term courses for experienced/overseas drivers
Anything between 5-10 hours in preparation for a Driving Test - will identify weaker areas rather than try to change ingrained habits.
3) Refresher courses
Minimum 2 hours - more if felt necessary following initial lesson. Can concentrate on areas you feel most uneasy with, then tackling others as confidence grows.
4) Intensive courses
These are only worth considering if you have already passed the Theory Test and have possibly already booked a Practical Test. If you've never driven before you will need at least a 2 hour assessment to determine whether an intensive course would be appropriate. Thereafter a suitable programme can be established - usually between 20-40 hours
and over 2-5 weeks.
5) Pass Plus
Usually completed within 6 months of passing the Practical Test, this will consist of an additional 6 hours (minimum) to include extended dual carriageways, rural roads, Motorway routes and night driving. Significant discounts on insurance are available on completion of Pass Plus.
6) Motorways
As an alternative to Pass Plus it is possible to arrange a 2 or 3 hour route to cover various motorway situations using some, if not all, of M25, M3, M4, M40 and other linking rural roads.
